Please join us to see some of the Art Deco buildings and other attractions along 16th Street in Northwest Washington!

Highlights include:
  • A look at Meridian Hill Park, one of our truly great public parks with some of the best views of Washington.
  • An opportunity to see the fine interiors of the 1939 Scottish Rite Center by architects Porter and Lockie with exceptional decorative concrete murals by John Joseph Earley.
  • Visits to a couple of thoughtfully restored Art Deco lobbies in apartment buildings by developer Morris Cafritz.
  • A visit to the 1941 Dorchester House lobby-truly over-the-top and wonderful!
  • We'll point out many other interesting buildings along the way, not all of them Art Deco, but fabulous nonetheless.
Additional Notes:

This is a walking tour. Expect to be on your feet for some time, walking in excess of a mile and encountering stairs during our time together. We anticipate the walking tour and lunch break to take about 4 hours.

We will have a 1 hour break halfway through the tour for a sit down lunch at Haydee's, a moderately priced casual Mexican restaurant on Mount Pleasant Street.
Details of the exact meeting location will be sent to registrants the week of the tour.

Stay tuned for additional details and registration. Spots will be limited.
