Exhibition: Walls Speak: The Narrative Art of Hildreth Meiere

National Building Museum Hours: Monday-Saturday, 10 am - 5 pm Sunday, 11 am - 5 pm Admission Free The first major retrospective of Hildreth Meiere, a twentieth century Art Deco muralist, mosaicist, painter, and decorative artist, Walls Speak contains some 100 works, nearly half on loan from priviate collections. The exhibition represents 25 of Meiere's most important commissions. Although Ms. Meiere's specialty was the ancient art of mosaic, she created designs for painted wall murals, marble floors, glazed terracotta tiles, metal relief sculpture, stained glass, leather doors, and wool tapestry. Meiere's major works include commissions at the National Academy of Sciences, Radio City Music Hall, the Nebraska State Capitol, and St. Bartholomew's Church in New York.
