Charles Sumner School Members: Free! Featuring: Fred Astaire: Beyond the Clichés The widely-held image of Fred Astaire in a tuxedo or tails, dancing with Ginger Rogers, was only a part of Astaire’s on-screen persona. In her presentation (through the use of film clips and rare photographs), Chris will talk about the many dimensions of Astaire and present him as an actor and singer as well as a dancer. About Chris Chris Bamberger has introduced several Astaire films at the American Film Institute’s Silver Theatre in Silver Spring, as well as at Harvard University’s Graduate Student Center. She is co-moderator of the international Astaire discussion list and was co-director of Fred Astaire: The Conference at Oxford University in 2008. She lives in Arlington, Virginia, and when not watching movies, dancing, or reading, works as a writer and editor. Refreshments will be served. Please RSVP by November 29th.
