Sunday, June 8, 2008 Elinor Coleman's Vintage Mirage Members: $5; Nonmembers: $15
This hands on demonstration and talk will take place on a day when the store Vintage Mirage is normally closed, so that Elinor will be able to share her personal collection of antique jewelry, buttons, buckles, clothing, ornaments for the hair, purses, and hats. In addition, Art Deco members will have an opportunity to shop in Vintage Mirage and receive a discount on purchases that day. For Elinor, mixing the vintage and contemporary elements create her unique style of dressing, costuming, and accessorizing which are reflected in the wide range of items in her store Vintage Mirage. Ms. Coleman's mission is to educate and share her knowledge about the history, wearability, maintenance, repair, and preservation of all of these items. Elinor Coleman is a professional dancer and choreographer from New York City. In addition to ADSW, she is a member of the National Button Society, The Victorian Society of Falls Church, The Costume Society of America, National Association of Resale & Thrift Shops, National Dance Education Organization, Capitol Region Educators Dance Organization, and Metro Dance DC. Elinor also serves as a consultant to Dance Place, Washington DC, and Life With Cancer. Please RSVP by June 1. Space is limited. Location: 210 North Lee Street (between Cameron and Queen Streets) in Old Town Alexandria. Nearest Metro: King Street Station or Braddock Road Station, each about 1ΒΌ miles.
