Are you wondering what to wear to the November 12 Stars and Stripes Ball, or do you just have an interest in the fashions and look of the 1940s? Attend this ADSW presentation and learn how to re-create hairstyles, makeup looks, clothing ensembles, and accessories for a great look with a 1940s feel.
Enjoy presentations by these experts:
- Christina Crerar, vintage swing vocalist who did the wonderful hairstyles for the ADSW Vintage Fashion Show, will provide instruction on how to achieve authentic 1940s hairstyles with today’s products and tools.
- Susan Boyd, wardrobe stylist and image consultant, will present a brief history of 20th century cosmetic developments and describe products and techniques for a fabulous 40s face.
- Terri Prell, costume designer and vintage jewelry collector, will demonstrate how to accessorize a terrific 40s look featuring pieces from her outstanding collection.
- Chrissy Hall-Reis, ADSW fashion show chair and vintage clothing collector, will share tips on how to assemble a fabulous 40s ensemble, along with sources for buying vintage and vintage-inspired clothes.
Mens' looks will also be included.

The Charles Sumner School is a beautifully restored historic building located at 1201 17th St., N.W., next to the National Geographic Explorers Hall.
