Please join the Art Deco Society of Washington for an exclusive tour of the AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center. Ray Barry, who has been with the project on American Film Institute's behalf for five years, will be our tour guide. The AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center is anchored by the long-awaited rehabilitation of noted architect John Eberson's historic 1938 Silver Theatre. In addition to the beautifully and accurately restored theatre, the 49,000 sq.ft. complex will feature two other theatres, a cafe, a film-based retail outlet, office and meeting space, and reception and exhibit areas. It will be a state-of-the-art education and cultural center. Visit AFI's web site for more information about the center. DirectionsThe AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center is located in downtown Silver Spring, Maryland, at 8633 Colesville Road (between Georgia Avenue and Fenton Street). Conveniently located, the AFI Silver is two blocks from the Silver Spring Metro stop and easily accessible by the Capital Beltway (I-495), which is less than two miles from both the Georgia Avenue and Colesville Road exits. TicketsThis tour is full. To apply for the waiting list, send email to program@adsw.org. |
