At the ADSW annual meeting this Saturday afternoon, Debbie Lew of the
Potomac River Jazz Club has donated tickets to be raffled off for the
20th Anniversary and Last Hoorah Party for the HOTS Jazz Orchestra. The
party will be on December 13th. from 8 to 11:30 p.m. at the Rockville
Elks Club, 5 Taft Court, Rockville, MD.

About this concert:
After a fun filled 20 year run, the New HOTS Jazz Orchestra will
be disbanding at the end of this year. This will be your last
opportunity to party with the group. Souvenir HOTS Tee shirts,
CDs and other items will also be offered at clearance prices.
Jack Elder formed the band in May, 1988 to support a community
event in Herndon Virginia. The group was originally known as the
Herndon Old Time Stompers (HOTS). The band evolved over the years
from a focus on ragtime to playing hot dance, ballroom and
swing. Four of the original members are still performing with the
group, and others have been members between five and ten
years. We've been fortunate to have a number of excellent
Washington area musicians perform with the group over the years.
The decision to disband the New HOTS Jazz Orchestra after 20
years was made following Jack Elder's retirement from the
government for a second time and his desire to leave the
Washington area to be closer to his children who now live in the
southeast. The members also realized how difficult it would be to
sustain the many functions and level of behind the scenes effort
that Jack has performed in maintaining the band. While the New
HOTS Jazz Orchestra will no longer exist after the first of the
year, there is always the potential for future reunion
performances.
