Announcement for the Annual Membership Meeting
October 22, 2007
Candidate Statements due September 20, 2007.
ADSW will hold its Annual Membership Meeting and Board election on Monday,
October 22, 2007 at the Sumner School at 17th and M Sts., NW. Details on
the meeting will be included in Trans-Lux, as well as posted here.
We urge members in good standing to consider becoming a candidate for a
seat on the board. We need the service of all of our members to make our
organization effective. Although specific qualifications are not required,
Board members will be expected to take on the responsibility of serving as
officers or committee chairs, which will include some time commitment.
Board members are also expected to attend monthly Board meetings and be
prepared to discuss agenda items.
To become a candidate, write a brief description (200-word maximum) of
yourself in the form of a short statement about your background and how you
wish to serve the ADSW. Send your statement to Cathy Willis at
cwillis@adsw.org or to ADSW Election, PO Box 42722, Washington, DC 20015 no
later than September 20, 2007. E-mail submission is strongly preferred.
Each candidate will have an opportunity to speak briefly at the Annual
Meeting. There will be no nominations from the floor of the meeting.
Ballots, along with the candidates' statements, will be mailed to members
in good standing around September 25 as part of Trans-Lux. You may vote by
mail (postmarked no later than October 20), or you may bring your ballot to
the Annual Meeting on October 22 and vote there. Each membership will
receive one ballot and have one vote.
This is the perfect time for you to become more active in ADSW. We need
your enthusiasm and participation to make ADSW an effective and meaningful
organization. We look forward to hearing from you and seeing you at the
Annual Meeting on October 22nd.
